Walk through the Amsterdam of the Golden Age and read about the people of Amsterdam who made history.
Taking works of art from the Rijksmuseum as his starting point, city guide Jan Tervoort gives a short, lively history of each location. The Money & Trade route takes you past merchants' houses, the flower market, the famous 'Golden Bend' and the City Bank, where Rembrandt pawned goods so that he could pay his debts. The Freedom & Tolerance route includes the Anne Frank House, the Amsterdam Museum, the Begijnhof, a brothel and the house where Rembrandt painted the Night Watch.
Each walk lasts about two and a half hours, but of course you can take as long as you like!
