Die Weberfor- schung ist seit vielen Jahren in starkem Auftrieb; man spricht von der Max We- ber-Renaissance , und sogar von der Max Weber-Industrie . Dies trifft fur ver- schiedene Aspekte zu: Rezipiert werden Webers Theorie, Methodologie, histori- sche Studien sowie empirische Forschungen. Im Kontrast dazu fallt die Simmel- rezeption sparlicher aus. Dies liegt unter anderem darin begrundet, dass Simmel viele Sinndimensionen der Modeme mit unterschiedlichen Betrachtungsweisen zu bewaltigen versucht, so dass empirische Erkenntnisse und philosophisch-meta- physische Thematiken nebeneinander stehen.
