This story is about the author’s great-great uncle, his experiences and the people he may have encountered during the first two years of the Civil War (which was also the last two years of his life)- while serving as a private in the Confederate army. The story is historically correct – at least as to some of the names and the chronology of the events described, and the best of my ability – but pure fiction as to the narrative.
